Looking to volunteer at the club?

Not only will volunteering give you a warm-fuzzy-feeling for helping out our club; it will also net you a $50 discount on your club membership for the next season if you volunteer for 8 hours or more!

Here are some ways you can help out!

Educational Leagues

For our Rookie and Junior leagues, we like to have somewhat experienced curlers on the ice to help coach our rookies and our youth in the sport. Rookie Leagues are typically held on Wednesday evenings, and Juniors league is usually held on Saturday mornings. Please get in touch with either league via the following emails:

Learn to Curls

We typically host 2 types of Learn to Curls: public and private events. Public events happen throughout the year to introduce our community to the sport of curling. We also allow folks and organizations to host private events for a fee. In both cases, we need a few types of volunteers:

  • LTC Lead
    • This person takes point for running the learn to curl. They are in charge of verifying all waivers are signed and accounted for, of making the announcements during the evenings events, and giving instruction and demonstrations to all participants before breaking out into smaller groups.
    • Typically we want a Lead to be a slightly more experienced curler who has helped out at several LTCs previously.
  • LTC Instructor
    • Including the LTC Lead, we typically need 1 instructor for every 4 participants in a LTC. These volunteers will lead the break-out groups after the inital instruction/demonstration is given by the LTC Lead. These volunteers:
      • Help drill the individuals in their group with their newly-learned curling skills, such as learning to deliver the stone and sweep.
      • Guide the individuals through a 4-end game against another group during the last hour of the session.
    • Anyone with basic curling knowledge and skills can volunteer their time in this position, even if you've only been curling for half a season!
  • LTC Bartender
    • Serves drinks for the participants and other volunteers of the LTC before, during, and after the session. Can also volunteer on the ice if needed.
    • Requires the volunteer to have gotten a volunteer license from the state via the Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission. More information can be found here on their website.

Bonspiels

Bonspiels can run from full weekend events that start at 8:30 am on Friday and go until 4:00 on Sunday, or they can be a short Friendly spiel that happens over the course of the afternoon. For these events, we typically need bartenders, kitchen help (as we serve meals for these events), and clean-up help.

  • Food Prep
    • Plans the meals for the bonspiel. Depending on the event, we will cook and serve meals ourselves, or cater in.
    • Typically preparation for this starts long before the bonspiel, and will require some work the week of in order to prepare the meals in time.
    • To get involved with food prep, you can get in touch with the bonspiel committee by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
  • Facility Prep
    • Prepares the facility the night before the event so that everything is clean, the floors have been vacuumed paper towels and soap dispensers are refilled, etc.
  • Kitchen/Cleanup Help
    • Helps on the day-of with serving meals to participants and making sure everything is cleaned up afterwards.
  • Bartenders

Ice Prep

Keeping our curling ice ready for play is a lot of work, and we are always looking for new additions to the ice team.

Ice Team responsibilities include:

  • Prepping the ice before any game, including league nights and every bonspiel draws. This includes scraping, pebbling, and nipping the ice.
  • Performing any leveling floods/maintenance on the ice as necessary over the course of the season.
  • Flooding, painting, and preparing the ice at the beginning of the curling season.
  • Draining and cleaning up the pond at the end of the curling season.

If you're interested in joining the ice team, send them an email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Another way to look for volunteer opportunities is to join our Discord. This is a great way to get in touch with the members of the Ice team or the Bar team.

Please stay tuned for more ways to volunteer as they come available! For any other volunteer-related inquiries, please reach out to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
