The Summit City Open is the Fort Wayne Curling Club's springtime Open Bonspiel (all participants welcome) and is typically timed to be the weekend before St. Patrick's Day each March. This bonspiel was the first bonspiel ever held at the Fort Wayne Curling Club's dedicated facility in March 2014.

The 2016 Summit City Open will be held March 11-13, 2016 and will feature:

  • 3 excellent sheets of ice, expected to be roughly 24.5 second ice with roughly 4 feet of swing
  • 18 teams from all over the U.S. (and maybe Canada) - only a limited number of teams from Fort Wayne
  • A 3-game guarantee
  • Beer and soft drinks included in your registration fee
  • All meals included
  • Excellent viewing area
  • A full bar featuring 3 kegs of beer, bottled beer, wine and hard liquor (including shots and a broomshooter)
  • Excellent hotels nearby (one within walking distance)

The Hoosier Cup is a semi-annual challenge cup between the Fort Wayne Curling Club and the Circle City (Indianapolis) Curling Club. Initiated in 2011 as an annual event, due to the overwhelming popularity of the event at both clubs, the event is now run semi-annually as a home and home series.

Below is the prestigious trophy that is held by the winner of the Hoosier Cup until the next event:

Hoosier Cup

The Hoosier Cup series is currently tied at two wins apiece for the Fort Wayne Curling Club (FWCC) and the Circle City Curling Club (CCCC).

The results to date of the Hoosier Cup have been as follows (winners in bold):

2011 - held at the Fort Wayne Curling Club on May 7, 2011 - FWCC, CCCC - Exact score has been lost in the sands of time, but this was a blowout with Fort Wayne winning only 3 of 16 matches.

Spring 2012 - held at the Circle City Curling Club on April 7, 2012 - FWCC, CCCC - Exact score is not known, but Fort Wayne made a late push in the 4th draw but came up slightly short.  This was a much more competitive event than the inaugural event.

Fall 2012 - Held at the Fort Wayne Curling Club on October 14, 2012 - FWCC 262 pts, CCCC 216 pts

Spring 2013 - Held at the Circle City Curling Club on - FWCC 68 pts, CCCC 60 pts

Fall 2013 - Held on January 26th at the Fort Wayne Curling Club - FWCC 437, CCCC 282* - * indicates that this occurrence of the Hoosier Cup was played in severely inclement weather that prevented 5 individuals from making the trip up to Fort Wayne.  The Circle City Team competed with just 3 teams that had to play in all 4 draws,


The KalaWayne Cup is a semi-annual challenge cup between the Fort Wayne Curling Club and the Kalamazoo Curling Club.

The event started as an annual event:

  • Fort Wayne hosted and won the inaugural instance of the Kalawayne Cup on April 20, 2013.
  • The second occurrence of the KalaWayne Cup was held on March 8, 2014 and the Fort Wayne Curling Club prevailed by a whisker.

After the 2nd occurrence, the clubs mutually agreed to make this a semi-annual event to be hosted by the Fort Wayne Curling Club each time until such time as the Kalamazoo Curling Club achieves dedicated ice.

KalaWayne Cup


The Battle of the Black Swamp is an annual challenge cup between the Fort Wayne Curling Club and the Bowling Green (OH) Curling Club. The inaugural instance of this challenge cup will be held in November 2014.

The event is a day-long points spiel in which teams earn points for their home clubs by scoring points, winning ends and winning games. There are 4 draws of 8- or 6-end games and the club that earns the most points across these four draws holds the cup until the next meeting.


The Notre Dame/Fort Wayne Challenge Cup is a new annual challenge cup between the Notre Dame Curling Club and the Fort Wayne Curling Club,  The inaugural occurrence of this event will take place in the Spring of 2015 at the Fort Wayne Curling Club.

The event is run as a points spiel in which teams earn points for their home club by scoring points, winning ends and winning games. The club that has amassed the greatest number of points after 4 draws wins the event and retains the trophy until the next meeting.


The Notre Dame Friendly is a new annual "friendly" match between the Fort Wayne Curling Club and the Notre Dame Curling Club. The inaugural occurrence of this event will take place in the Fall of 2014.

The friendly event is designed as a way to nurture the friendship and camaraderie between two curling clubs. The event features 4 draws with each team consisting of two members from each club.

The event is played purely for fun and for the love of the sport of curling. No bragging rights are awarded.
