Below you will find several past blips about our beginning, some old pictures, and some other stuff.
Our winter season is about over, and it has been another great few months! The ice management team at Canlan Ice has been providing us with an outstanding curling surface week after week. In fact we've been told we have some of (if not THE) best arena ice in the country! If you're not involved in the FWCC but would like to see what curling in Fort Wayne is about, please visit the
Contact Us page.
Our first Learn to Curl session was an outstanding success! Special thanks to the Circle City Curling Club for all of their help. Thanks to Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry for helping to start our city's first curling session in 123 years! Big thanks to WANE TV, Indiana's News Center, the News Sentinel, and the Journal Gazette for helping get the word out on our new club!! (see the links to their stories below the pictures)
Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry and Dan O'Connell, President/CEO of the Fort Wayne Visitors and Convention Bureau help get things started at Canlan Ice!

Our first Learn-To-Curl session is almost upon us! We're looking forward to seeing everyone that is on the list for the first ice session. The founders were testing out the ice today and we're very excited! Canlan is going to be an awesome home for us to curl, as evidenced in the photos above!
CURLING STONES ARE HERE!!
Actually, everything is here...brooms, racks for the stones, score boards, and more! We unloaded with the help of several people a short while ago. Visit our Facebook page to see the pictures from when the equipment arrived. Thanks to everyone involved with the FWCC for helping to make this day possible!
We had a great meeting this past week. Quite a few people became the first official members of the FWCC! If you weren't at the first meeting the next one will be May 15th at 2pm upstairs at Canlan Ice. If you can't make the next meeting, but are interested in curling on any level, please contact us as soon as possible. In less than a month we'll be curling!!
This Thursday, May 6th at 7pm...come to the Thirsty Penguin (upstairs at Canlan Ice Sports) and get all the information you could want on the Fort Wayne Curling Club. We'll be discussing membership costs, times and dates of events, and much more!
UPDATE - APRIL 24, 2010
Clear your calendars...Thursday, May 6th at 7 pm, the Fort Wayne Curling Club will be holding our first membership meeting at the Thirsty Penguin (upstairs at the Canlan Ice Sports Facility). We'll be signing up members, signing people up for the Learn to Curls and providing a lot of additional information. We'll probably have another meeting on Saturday, May 15th for those who can't make this one (time to be determined). See you there!
UPDATE - APRIL 16, 2010
The Open House at Canlan Ice Sports will only be April 16th and April 17th!
The curling club will not be there on the18th.
We met a lot of great people today, and it looks like we may have a few 'ringers' in the area! Several people filled out interest forms and many more took some brochures. Be sure to stop by tomorrow and meet the founding members and get signed up to receive more information! Hope to see you there!!
